    Professional Stuff

For more than two decades, I’ve been helping new project managers become more effective. Through my books, articles, workshops, and public speaking appearances, I’ve tried to demystify the field of project management (PM) and make it accessible to new and part-time project managers. My step-by-step PM books have been adopted by many universities and businesses. In recent years I’ve focused on providing workshops and consulting support for people who need to improve their PM processes.

    My Wish for This Blog

Project management… or simply working on a project team… is hard work! In my workshops I frequently deal with people who are struggling to do a good job and are frustrated by all sorts of obstacles. I’ve learned that the people who deal most effectively with these obstacles are the ones that have a sense of higher purpose… a feeling that their team or their organization is doing something that really matters. What’s more, within these high-achieving teams, there are often enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping each of their fellow team members achieve something great. In short, the most successful project teams are made up of people who are inspired to do good things!

So how can you and your project team become more inspired? One of the best ways is to stop, take a breath, and expose yourself to a few great ideas and self-help wisdom that has stood the test of time. Then, once you “get it,” you can figure out how to apply this wisdom to your team.

It’s my intent in this blog to help you find some nuggets of great wisdom. More importantly, I’d like to help you figure out how apply these nuggets to your project teams. I’m hoping you’ll find something here that you can use to create a more inspired project team!
